Two suspects wanted in Windsor puppy pilfering arrested

Windsor police say two people sought in connection with an armed robbery involving a dog have been charged.

An 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were two of three suspects in a robbery that took place in the area of College Avenue and South Street on March 16.

Police say a teen was walking her four-month-old puppy when she was approached by two males and one female. The trio threatened her with bear spray, grabbed the dog, and ran. The animal was eventually found and returned.

On Friday, officers from the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad arrested the 21-year-old at Windsor Airport, where he was planning to board a flight.

On Tuesday, the 18-year-old was arrested by the ROPE Squad on Vaughan Street off Prince Road.

Both are charged with assault with a weapon and robbery with violence or threats of violence.

A 15-year-old girl, who can't be named under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested last month in connection to this incident and charged with robbery and assault with a weapon.

The charges have not been proven in court.
