For the first time in the riding's history, Windsor-West residents have voted Conservative.
Harb Gill defeated the six-term Member of Parliament Brian Masse in Monday night's federal election.
"I'm incredibly grateful to the people of Windsor-West that have given me the trust and confidence and faith for us to lead this city forward," said Gill.
Masse was third in the vote, behind Liberal Richard Pollock and Gill.
"We ran a campaign that was based on being positive. We didn't go negative to try and denigrate leaders or other individuals. We spoke to the issues," said Masse.
This was Gill's first time running in an election. He is a former LaSalle Police officer.
He said he would start working for the residents of Windsor-West immediately.
"Start working on issues that matter to Windsor and bring Windsor's voices forward," said Gill. "All kinds, affordability, crime, opioid awareness, the issues are many."
With 228 out of 231 polls reporting, Gill received 39.4 per cent of the votes.

Brian Masse, NDP, 14,943 or 27.7 per cent
Jacob Bezaire, PPC, 547 or 1 per cent
Louay Ahmad, Green, 390 or 0.7 per cent
Joseph Markham, Communist, 196 or 0.4 per cent
Margaret Villamizar, Marxist-Leninist, 90 or 0.2 per cent
