Stellantis has decided to postpone the addition of a third shift at the Windsor Assembly Plant until 2026.
It informed Unifor Local 444, which posted the announcement on social media Tuesday night.
Stellantis also informed the union of scheduling changes in the coming weeks as the company prepares for production of the 2026 model, and, although unmentioned, the trade war with the U.S.
The plant will run at full capacity the weeks of May 12, 19, and June 30.
Only shift one will work the weeks of May 26, June 9, and June 23. Shift two will be the only shift on the job the weeks of June 2, 16, and July 7.
Production at the plant will halt the week of July 14, and the planned summer shutdown is the weeks of August 18 and 25.
"We will see the plant experience some weeks with full production, some weeks with shift smoothing, and other weeks will see the plant totally shut down through this period," said the message on Facebook.
The union said the schedule is tentative and will be updated as work schedules are confirmed.
