The City of Windsor will install a gateway arch at the entrance to Mary E. Bibb Park later this month.
The park next to Mackenzie Hall was renamed Mary E. Bibb Park in 2020 at the request of the Friends of the Court-Mackenzie Hall in honour of one of the first Black female journalists in Canada, co-founder and co-editor of "The Voice of the Fugitive" newspaper, and anti-slavery activist.
The arch will be installed on May 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the park, following many delays.
Donations from the public, a grant from the Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Organization, and the City of Windsor helped pay for the gateway arch.
The Friends of the Court-Mackenzie Hall commissioned the design, fabrication and installation.
