When the Ontario Bike Summit gets underway in Windsor on Tuesday, the public is invited to two events free of charge.
Starting at 2 p.m. at Windsor Hall on Ferry Street, the public can explore how infrastructure can make cycling more inclusive and safer. The afternoon also features an overview of Share the Road's Bicycle Friendly Communities program, a panel discussion, and a role-playing workshop with the perspectives of community members, institutions, and the private sector.
"Cycling advocacy and infrastructure are essential to growing cities like Windsor, and we hope participants are inspired and encouraged to help shape the future of cycling in the city," said Founder and Board Chair of Share the Road Cycling Coalition, Eleanor McMahon.
At 6 p.m., the Ontario Bike Summit Opening Reception starts at Art Windsor Essex on Riverside Drive West. Guests can connect with community leaders and summit participants from across Ontario.
Members of the public who want to attend the Summit from May 27 to May 29 at Caesars Windsor can register for $325.
"We are so pleased that Share the Road selected Windsor to host this year's summit," said Director and Associate Professor at the Centre for Cities Anneke Smit. "Safe cycling infrastructure is part of building a healthy and safe city for all, as well as helping make life more affordable for all residents."
