After a judicial recount, Conservative candidate Kathy Borrelli has been confirmed as the Member of Parliament for Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore.
The recount was completed on May 22. After recounting all of the ballots and reviewing the previously rejected ballots, it was determined that Kathy Borrelli received 32,090 votes while Liberal candidate Irek Kusmierczyk had 32,086.
Prior to the recount, the two candidates were 77 votes apart and there were 536 rejected ballots. After the recount, there were only 458 rejected ballots.
The judicial recount was completed over three days at the Elections Canada office in Tecumseh. Each ballot was evaluated by two Elections Canada staff members, along with a volunteer from each of the Conservative and Liberal campaigns.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Ross MacFarlane had the final say on any ballot that was questioned.
