Eight schools in Windsor-Essex have earned a National Healthy Schools Certification.
They were among 362 schools across Canada recognized for their efforts to promote and support the health and well-being of their students, staff, and community.
Each school formed a wellness team that picked topics important to the school community. The schools planned fun and helpful activities to encourage health and wellness.
Five of the schools are with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board. Notre Dame Catholic School, St. Andre French Immersion Catholic School, St. Anne French Immersion Catholic School, and St. James Catholic School earned gold-level certifications. Immaculate Conception Catholic School earned a silver certification.
The other three schools are with the Greater Essex County District School Board. James L. Dunn Public School was recognized with a gold certification, while Riverside Secondary School and Tecumseh Vista Secondary earned silver.
