The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Lambton-Kent is expanding vital access to mental health service in Bothwell, Ridgetown, and Wheatley.
CMHA announced on Monday that Chatham-Kent MobileCare service is increasing its operations to four days per week and adding Bothwell, Ridgetown, and Wheatley to its regular schedule.
The clinic provides free, confidential, walk-in services to residents where they are.
"Expansion of services across Chatham-Kent underscores our commitment to meeting individuals where they are, providing timely support, and improving access to care for people in our communities,” said CMHA Lambton-Kent CEO Rhonny Doxtator.
The rolling clinic is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, a Mental Health First Response Worker, and a Community Paramedic to provide on-the-spot support for mental health, addictions, primary care, and community paramedicine, along with referrals to other local resources.
CMHA Lambton-Kent said the clinic-on-wheels has been well-received in Blenheim, Chatham, Delaware Nation, Dresden, North Buxton, Thamesville, Wallaceburg and Walpole Island.
“The MobileCare initiative is a perfect example of what we can achieve through partnership,” said Executive Director of Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres Sherri Saunders. “By bringing healthcare directly to residents, we are reducing barriers and ensuring people get the right care, at the right time, in the right place. This expansion will have a significant positive impact on the health and well-being of our rural communities.”
MobileCare will be available at each location from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., unless otherwise noted, and no appointments are necessary.
