A group of MBA students from the University of Windsor worked with the Windsor Detroit Tunnel to develop a campaign to attract more people to Windsor businesses.
The 40-40 campaign is a digital tourism initiative that offers discounts and incentives to visit 40 local businesses and attractions.
"I think it's really important now than ever to come together as bordering communities and it's great to interact with all the businesses," said Project Lead Olivia Sylvester.
Anyone interested in the program can go to 4040Windsor.com to register. Once registered , users can access discounts from participating businesses and scan the QR code to enter into prize draws.
"I think everybody knows that border crossings are down a little bit going both ways. I can say here at the tunnel we're very close to our normal numbers," said Tal Czudner, Chief Executive Officer at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel. "We would like to try and get the situation back to the 80s and 90s, every weekend was packed with American friends coming over the spend some money and time here."
The campaign runs from June 19 until July 31, 2025.
