Essex County OPP officers were kept busy over the weekend with impaired drivers.
On Friday night, officers stopped a driver on Lesperance Road in Tecumseh. They determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken to the local detachment.
The 47-year-old was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol level of 80 plus. The accused also had their license suspended and the vehicle impounded.
Another vehicle was stopped in the same area early Saturday morning. The 40-year-old driver was also charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol level of 80 plus. Officers issued a license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded.
Early Sunday morning, Tecumseh OPP stopped a speeding vehicle while on patrol on Riverside Drive. Officers say they determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The 38-year-old was arrested and charged with impaired operation with a blood alcohol level of 80 plus.
On Sunday evening, OPP in Essex responded to a single-vehicle crash on County Road 11 near 5th Concession Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a vehicle in a ditch. They say the driver showed signs of impairment. The 60-year-old driver was charged with impaired operation with a blood alcohol level of 80 plus.
