Lakeshore to explore possible senior housing and community hub

Lakeshore Town Council is investigating the next steps to develop seniors' housing and a community hub in Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches.

If it goes ahead, 21 senior-friendly housing units will be part of a project that could include a permanent Stoney Point Library Branch.

The project is planned for the site of the former Stoney Point Tavern at 7340 Tecumseh Road.

"Council is dedicated to ensuring that housing development, throughout Lakeshore, meets the desires and needs of our residents and their communities," said Mayor Tracey Bailey. The discussion during the meeting reflected our commitment to that approach."

The development won't impact access to Stoney Point Community Park and will not affect upcoming construction at the park.

Lakeshore approved a $3.5-million upgrade at the park. The tender should go out this summer.
