NDP leader Marit Stiles continued her visit to the Windsor-Essex region today, advocating for a regional job strategy.
Stiles met with local companies, unions, and labour organizations to discuss the area's high unemployment and threats to the region due to tariffs.
"What we really need to see is some leadership here from the government on leading the way on a strategy, a regional job strategy so that we can actually coordinate some of these solutions and get things moving fast," said Stiles.
She also stated the government needs to remove barriers to accessing good jobs.
"We believe that the provincial government needs to get back in the business of providing operating funding for public transit in the Province of Ontario," said Stiles. "That's obviously a cost item but it's a significant and very important item. I think we will see the economic benefit of that immediately."
Stiles also visited WSIB workers on the picket line and met with the Caldwell First Nation.
