Organizers of the 2025 Run With Responders are hoping to see around 400 registrants at this year's event.
The 5K run/walk along Windsor's Riverfront Trail supports three local charities: the Canadian Mental Health Association - Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, and the Windsor Firefighters Benefit Fund.
"This is for more than first responders. The general public is welcome to attend. Let's say if we have 400 participants, we might have 70 or 80 first responders but all the rest are the regular folks," said Dave Orshinsky, co-organizer of the event. "They should come out and they should thank the first responders for what they do and be part of the whole celebration."
The Run with First Responders is Sunday, July 27. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the run to start at 9 a.m. Registration can be done ahead of time through Race Roster.
All runners in the 5K will receive a high-quality event t-shirt and a finishers' medal. There will also be a kids' dash and a kids' 800-meter race.
