Leamington man wins big prize

A Leamington man is celebrating a big lottery win and considering how he can help people around him.

Michael Schlater won $70,669, a second prize in the LOTTO MAX draw on March 4, 2025.

“I bought this ticket as part of my weekly routine,” he shared, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his windfall. “One day, I went to the store to have my tickets validated. When the clerk scanned this one for me, the lottery terminal froze. That’s how I came to discover I’d won big! My wife was with me at the time, and we were both so happy and excited as we looked at the screen.

When he picked up his prize he was still dreaming about what to do with the winnings.

“Being a winner is such an exciting experience. Your mind starts racing and you think, ‘What am I going to do with this money?’ There’s so much you can do.”

Schlater said he plans to donate a portion of his prize to people who may need a helping hand.

The winning lottery ticket was purchased at Circle K on Seacliff Drive in Kingsville.
