WSO Summer Concert Series kicks off

Windsor Symphony Orchestra's Summer Concert Series kicks off in Windsor this weekend.

"You can bring your dogs, you can bring your picnic baskets, you can bring your blankets, bring your kids, bring your grandparents. Everybody is welcome to them and it's a really great concert series that we have outdoors," said WSO Board Chair Deborah Severs.

The outdoor concerts are free to the public thanks to a $15,000 donation from Caesars Windsor Cares.

The donation also helps to support the Music for Health program. This program brings musicians to long-term care facilities, retirement homes, hospitals, and more to support the health and wellness of seniors.

The first summer concert will be held Friday, July 18, at 7 p.m. at Windsor's sculpture garden along the riverfront.

Two concerts will be held Saturday, July 19. The first is at Ojiway Park at 1 p.m. and the second is at Reaume Park at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, the concert series moves to Ambhherstburg's King's Navy Yard Park at 3 p.m.

The full orchestra travels to Leamington on July 26 to perform at the Leamington amphitheatre at 7:30 p.m.

Last year, around 4,000 people attended the different performances of the outdoor Summer Concert Series.
