Hospice Rubber Duck Race is Friday

Offering a $20,000 prize for the person with the ticket that matches the number of the winning rubber duck, the Hospice Rubber Duck Race is this Friday.

Thousands of rubber ducks will be dropped from the top of a fire truck into the canal at Lakeview Park in Belle River, where they will race to the finish line.

Second and third place winners will receive $500 and $250.

The event gets underway at 6:30 p.m. just ahead of the latest installment of the Lakeshore Summer Parks Concert Series featuring Leave Those Kids Alone.

Proceeds will support the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.

"I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Lakeshore Fire Department, as well as our volunteers and to everyone who purchased a rubber duck ticket," said Hospice Executive Director Katharen Bortolin.
