Third candidate enters LaSalle byelection contest

The contest for a vacant seat on LaSalle Town Council is now a little more crowded.

Brandon Meloche, 25, has filed his candidacy papers for the byelection to find a successor to Councillor Sue Desjarlais, who passed away earlier this summer.

He confirmed his candidacy on his Facebook page on Thursday.

"I was born and raised in this community, I went to school here, I learned about life here, and now, I seek to bring the concerns of all my neighbours in LaSalle to local government," posted Meloche. "LaSalle isn't a small town anymore. It's a rapidly-growing community of small businesses and tens of thousands of neighbours seeking to build and maintain a good life."

Meloche joins Mike Seguin and Chris Matis as confirmed byelection candidates running in the October 20 vote.

Nominations close on September 5, with a list of the official candidates available on September 8.

Advance voting in the byelection begins on October 10.
