LaSalle Fire Service to receive donation of smoke alarms

A local fire department has been chosen to receive a donation as part of Kidde Canada's Cause for Alarm campaign.

LaSalle Fire Service is one of 17 departments across Ontario receiving an allotment of smoke alarms from Kidde Canada, in partnership with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council.

"We are grateful to Kidde Canada and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council for their continued support," said LaSalle Fire Chief Ed Thiessen. "These alarms will be distributed by our firefighters during Fire Prevention Week. While distributing the alarms, firefighters have an opportunity to reinforce the importance of having working smoke alarms."

The fire service has received 144 Detect brand alarms, which include a ten-year lithium battery.

The Kidde Cause for Alarm campaign is designed to ensure Canadians in at-risk communities receive essential fire safety tools and education, including working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan.

Fire Prevention Week runs from October 5 to October 11.
