Firearms, ammunition seized by CBSA

Canadian Border Service agents stopped several illegal firearms from entering Canada at the Ambassador Bridge and Windsor-Detroit Tunnel last month.

On July 16, a U.S. resident was arrested at the Ambassador Bridge for attempting to bring in an over-capacity magazine and eleven rounds of ammunition. The person paid a $500 penalty and returned to the United States.

Agents seized weapons in three separate incidents at the Ambassador Bridge on July 17. Three firearms and several rounds of ammunition were seized. In all three cases, the person was arrested, paid a fine, and returned to the United States.

On July 19, at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, officers seized a firearm, three magazines, and 67 rounds of ammunition from a U.S. resident. The person was arrested, paid a penalty, and returned to the United States.

That same day at the Ambassador Bridge, CBSA officers seized a firearm and a magazine from a U.S. resident. The person was arrested, fined, and returned to the United States.

On July 20, CBSA officers seized four magazines and 31 rounds of ammunition from a U.S. resident trying to enter Canada at the Ambassador Bridge. The individual was arrested, paid a fine, and was returned to the United States.

Finally, on July 22, CBSA officers seized three firearms, 10 magazines, and 1,031 rounds of ammunition from U.S. residents at the Ambassador Bridge. The individuals were arrested, paid a fine of $2,650, and were returned to the United States.
