Lakeshore man charged following traffic complaint

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a Lakeshore man after following up on a call about suspected impaired driving.

Officers from the Lakeshore detachment were called shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday to a parking lot on Notre Dame Street in Belle River.

The OPP spoke to the vehicle's driver when they arrived and determined he was impaired. He was taken into custody and tested further at the detachment.

The 71-year-old man is charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood alcohol concentration.

The charges have not been proven in court. The driver was released and will have a chance to respond in a Windsor court on August 21.
