A year after the City of Windsor launched its Strengthening the Core - Downtown Revitalization Plan, it's inviting residents, business owners, service providers and visitors to take part in a new survey.
The survey opened on Friday and will remain active until September 4. The questions are the same as the ones used in a 2023 consultation process to measure changes in public sentiment, engagement, perceptions of safety, and overall impressions of downtown.
Since launching the plan last year, Windsor Police have added another 12 officers to its City Centre Patrol Team. Hours and services at the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub were expanded, and more events and attractions have been added downtown.
"The City of Windsor has made significant progress through the Strengthening the Core Plan over the last year," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "Investments in community wellbeing are working to change the perception of safety downtown. Unforgettable events and initiatives are regularly drawing folks to the core to celebrate some of what Windsor has to offer."
The city has also taken steps to address cleanliness downtown with the purchase of a Glutton street sweeper, the installation of new lockable garbage bins, and the hiring of a dedicated by-law enforcement officer.
The follow-up survey will help ensure the Strengthen the Core Plan remains responsive, is driven by data, and is informed by the community.
"This follow-up survey is an important opportunity for residents, businesses, and visitors to tell us what's working, where we can improve, and how we can continue building a more vibrant, welcoming downtown for all," said Nicole Sleiman Anderson, the city's Senior Economic Development Officer.
It's available online, and all responses are anonymous.
