The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is warning those who dined recently at a Tecumseh restaurant that they may have been exposed to Hepatitis A.
It's holding a vaccination clinic on Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at its office on Ouellette Avenue.
That's a liver infection caused by the Hepatitis virus. Most often, it's spread by eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated.
Symptoms include fever, dark urine, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, stomach cramps, and jaundice.
Those who ate at Fratelli's Pasta Grill on July 19 and July 20, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., on July 22 and July 23, between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. and between August 1 and August 6, should watch for symptoms.
If you develop symptoms, call your primary healthcare provider as soon as possible.
You can reduce your risk by washing your hands often, drinking safe water that has been bottled or boiled, avoiding ice in drinks, eating well-cooked foods, and peeling raw fruits and vegetables yourself.
The health unit adds that the best way to avoid the Hepatitis A virus is to get vaccinated within 14 days of exposure.
