Construction manager selected for first phase of new hospital project

The new hospital project has reached a major milestone with the selection of a construction manager to complete the first phase of the project.

The first phase includes an administration centre with training facilities, a multi-level parking garage, and essential site infrastructure to support future phases of the project.

EllisDon was selected for the work after a competitive procurement process.

“This announcement is another exciting and tangible step toward delivering the new state-of-the-art hospital our community has been waiting for,” said Karen Riddell, Acting President and CEO and Chief Nursing Executive of Windsor Regional Hospital. “By selecting EllisDon, we are partnering with a team that has a proven track record in delivering complex healthcare infrastructure. This early work will set the stage for the full build and bring us closer to a facility that will meet the needs of our patients, families, and staff for decades to come.”

The Education and Administration Centre will be adjacent to the main hospital.

All of the works are expected to take three years to complete.

“Today’s milestone marks an important step in the development of the New Fancsy Family Hospital, which, upon completion, will make it faster and easier for more people and their families to access world-class hospital care in their community, for generations to come,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.

A separate tendering process will be launched later this year to begin major construction on the new hospital.
