Windsor Police issued an arrest warrant for Bateman after an investigation that started in June into a $130,000 fraud at a currency exchange business on Dougall Avenue.
Officers said a man used a fake Canadian passport to transfer approximately $138,000 CAD in exchange for $100,000 USD. Once he got the American cash, he cancelled the Canadian transfer.
Bateman is wanted for fraud over $5,000, obtaining funds under false pretense over $5,000, uttering a forged passport, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of an identification document of another, identity theft, and identity fraud.
