DKI Windsor-Essex has helped raise $20,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and aims to raise an additional $5,000 by its 5K Walk/Run on September 7.
DKI gathered support from Hub International, DS Electric, Physique Check and Contents Processing Centre with donations of $2,500 each. DKI matched all of the donations for a total of $20,000 for the charity.
The Footsteps for Families event on Sunday, September 7, will start and end at Walkerville Brewery.
Workplaces and families are challenged to fundraise for the event and participate in the 5K event.
"I have a big heart for Windsor-Essex. They are genuinely the most caring and giving people. I'm so proud to be a Windsorite, everybody steps up to do the challenge," said Elizabeth Elias-Hernandez, DKI Director of Marketing.
Registration for the event starts at 2:30 p.m. with the run starting at 3 p.m. Following the run, there will be a family fun zone, vendors, live music and door prizes at Walkerville Brewery.
All of the money raised locally will support the Ronald McDonald House located inside Windsor Regional Hospital's Met Campus.
"We've helped 6,800 families since we've opened. We want to be able to continue to remove those barriers for families, make sure that they have what they need and really create that emotional safe space for them to stay while their children are in the hospital," said Christine Richer, manager of the Windsor Ronald McDonald House.
Teams can register for the event here.
