A date has been set for the inquest into the death of a 21-year-old inmate at the Southwest Detention Centre in Windsor.
Nathaniel Krug died in the hospital on March 10, 2021, after suffering an overdose at the Windsor jail.
Krug was one of two inmates who suffered an overdose that day, although the other inmate survived.
Luc Bouchard, a third inmate at the jail, pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing bodily harm and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking charges in connection with the death in September 2022.
The inquest, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on September 15, is expected to last six days and hear from nine witnesses. Doctor David Eden will preside over the hearing, and Phillip Tsui will be the inquest counsel.
The jury may make recommendations to prevent future deaths, and the inquest is mandatory under the Coroner's Act.
