Windsor police have asked the public for help in finding a female suspected of fraudulently exchanging counterfeit U.S. funds for Canadian cash.
According to the Financial Crimes Unit, the woman entered a restaurant in the area of Wyandotte Street West and Partington Avenue on August 28. She approached an employee and asked to exchange U.S. cash into Canadian funds.
The employee refused to accept the cash. Police say she then asked a customer, who agreed to the exchange. The customer later realized that the U.S. money was counterfeit.
Security camera images of the suspect have been released.
She is wanted on charges of fraud under $5,000, possession of counterfeit money, uttering counterfeit money, and possession of stolen property.
