Teens charged in summer break-in

Two teens are facing a slew of charges in connection with a break-and-enter over the summer.

A break-in happened just before 3 a.m. on July 12 on Longfellow Avenue. Several items were reported stolen, including a credit card and keys to a truck.

The stolen credit card was used at multiple businesses. Police say they obtained surveillance footage of the suspects' vehicle and were able to identify both individuals.

On July 13, investigators learned one of the suspects had been arrested in London and released with curfew conditions.

A week after the arrest, the suspects allegedly returned to the home on Longfellow Avenue and stole the truck with the keys that were stolen from the home. Officers found the truck on Marentette Avenue using GPS tracking.

Police say they attempted to stop the vehicle, but it took off. The truck was eventually found abandoned on Ottawa Street.

On September 10, police caught up with the two suspects, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old, who were arrested and charged with 19 charges collectively.

They cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
