Windsor police say officers took two people into custody following a lengthy standoff Tuesday in south Walkerville.
Officers responded to a suspected breach of probation at around 11:30 a.m. on Lincoln Road between Ypres Boulevard and Vimy Avenue. They learned that a 51-year-old man in the home had violated his terms by communicating with someone that he was ordered not to.
The man barricaded himself in a shed.
While this was happening, police learned that a 56-year-old man with outstanding warrants was in the main house. He also barricaded himself and refused to leave.
Repeated attempts to negotiate an end to the standoff were unsuccessful. At around 5:30 p.m., the Emergency Services Unit executed a Feeney warrant, which allowed police to enter the house and shed. Both men were arrested.
The 51-year-old was charged with failure to comply with a probation order.
He had been convicted in 2023 of possessing a prohibited weapon, impaired driving, dangerous driving, and three counts of uttering death threats.
The 56-year-old was wanted on two counts of mischief over $5,000 and six counts of mischief under $5,000.
