Local cancer care gets a $2.7-million boost

The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation is celebrating a massive $2.7-million donation to the Windsor Regional Cancer Program.

The foundation stated that the $2,718,473 represents the cumulative effort of fundraising activities and donations over the past few months, including the Show Us Your Brave and Grow On Windsor campaigns.

It will help cancer patients in four key departments: systemic therapy, radiation oncology, palliative care, and respiratory therapy.

"This is more than a number," said Houida Kassem, the executive director of the foundation. "This is your impact. This is your compassion in action."

Clinical Vice President of the Windsor Regional Cancer Program, Jonathan Foster, said the donation will directly enhance patient care.

"This donation will make meaningful advancements in treatment and strengthen the care patients receive," he said.
