Mike Seguin wins LaSalle byelection

Voters in the Town of LaSalle have voted to fill a vacancy on Town Council.

With the unofficial results posted soon after 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Mike Seguin has easily won the seat.

Seguin, a retired superintendent of education from the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, will finish out the term of Sue Desjarlais, who passed away earlier this year.

There were seven certified candidates in the byelection, with an eighth person having withdrawn.

The unofficial results, according to the Town's official website, are as follows.

  • Mike Seguin - 1,197

  • Brad Krewench - 824

  • Robert Moore - 729

  • Kate Paddon - 216

  • Robbie Durling - 207

  • Tory McKay - 171

  • Brandon Meloche - 49

There were nine counted as "decline to vote".

Seguin will remain on council through November 2026, when Desjarlais' term expires.

The election was held online. Due to the recent labour disruption by Canada Post, LaSalle voters were required to collect their Voter Information Letters in person at LaSalle Civic Centre, so they could obtain the PIN number needed to vote.

More to come.
