Academie Ste-Cecile building new arena

Construction is underway on a new $7.5 million NHL-sized hockey arena at Academie Ste-Cecile International School.

The 36,035 square foot arena will be the practice facility for the school's three hockey teams Boys U18 Prep Team, Boys U18 Varsity team and the Girls 19U Prep Team.

"There's 60 hockey players in our program curently from 19 different countries," said Director of Athletics Robb Serviss. "It's grown immensely in the first two years, we're in our third year now, so it's made tremendous growth and that's one of the reasons why we've looked to expand."

He said the on-site facilities will also have a major impact on the students' daily schedule.

"To be able to stay on campus here, it's just better synergy with their overall day schedule with academics and hockey, it's going to be a huge plus," sais Serviss.

Serviss indicated once the new arena is completed they may consider expanding their programming to include figure skating.

"We've had some interest from abroad, but also because we are going to have our own ice rink that we are strictly going to be using we're going to need more programming, and I think figure skating would be an amazing fit for our school," said Serviss.

The architect for the project is Sfera Architectural Associates Inc and the general contractor is Amico Design Build. Construction is scheduled to be complete in August 2026.
