This year's Grow On Windsor campaign will raise funds to complete upgrades to radiation treatment facilities at the Windsor Cancer Centre.
The campaign encourages individuals, teams, and workplaces to grow their facial hair and raise funds for local cancer care.
"Have fun with it, both men and women, anyone can get involved whether you're a corporation, whether you're an individual," said Houida Kassem, Executive Director of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation. "The idea is showing that team spirit, teaming up for your community and it's amazing how it has grown year over year over year."
There are three radiation bunkers at the hospital that need upgrading. Those upgrades will help to meet demands, reduce wait times, and ensure patients can receive treatment close to home.
"By renovating our bunkers, which will support the new radiation treatment machines we can treat more people in a day, faster, with fewer treatment doses overall," said Jonathan Foster, VP of Cancer Care at Windsor Regional Hospital.
There is no specific goal for this year's campaign.
"We're still looking at over $3 million in order to ensure that we have those upgraded. I can say strongly that we don't have a goal specifically but if we can raise enough funds to cover thee cost of that, that would be fantastic for our patients," said Kassem.
The campaign runs throughout the month of November. For more information or to sign up visit the Grow On Windsor website.
