The Funkenhauser family has donated over $200,000 over the last 18 years to the intensive care unit at Windsor Regional Hospital.
The money was donated in honour of their son Trevor, who passed away in 2006. He became an organ donor and helped to save three lives.
Since his death, his parents Gunther and Judy have organized an annual golf tournament to honour his legacy.
"[The hospital] has put it to such good use. Like equipment for transplants, the room for people to go to who have loved ones in the ICU, it's just amazing it give me goosebumps," said Judy Funkenhauser.
This year's golf tournament raised $13,300 to purchase new equipment in the ICU.
"Capital funds are not covered under the hospital budget so we rely on donations from the community to help us purchase pieces of equipment that are not covered," says Nicole Krywionek, Chief Nursing Executive.
