A 63-year-old man is facing multiple property damage charges after a vandalism spree in south Windsor.
During the overnight period from Friday night to Saturday morning, Windsor police received numerous reports of vehicles being vandalized. There were 21 vehicles damaged in the areas of Dandurand Avenue, Alexandra Avenue, Hallee Crescent, Virginia Park Avenue, and Randolph Avenue.
Damage was estimated at $21,000. A man was seen on surveillance footage with a tool to scratch paint and puncture tires.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, the same man was spotted approaching a vehicle and slashing its tires. An additional 22 vehicles were damaged in the areas of Academy Drive, Alexandra Avenue, Casgrain Drive, and Dandurand Avenue, causing $13,000 more in damage.
The Windsor police's Target Base Unit identified the suspect and arrested him on Wednesday at a house on Academy Drive near Northwood Street.
He is charged with two counts of mischief over $5,000, and one count each of possession of stolen property under $5,000, theft under $5,000, and wearing a disguise to commit an offence.
The charges have not been proven in court.
