Leamington to install commemorative crosswalks

The Municipality of Leamington is preparing to start work on a project commemorating the area's fallen heroes.

Two commemorative crosswalks will be installed at the intersection of Mill Street East and Princess Street, converging at the path leading to the cenotaph.

"These commemorative crosswalks will stand as a lasting symbol of gratitude and remembrance," said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. "They offer our community a meaningful way to pause and reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who have served, and continue to serve, our country, and to honour the freedoms we enjoy today because of them."

The crosswalks will be in red and white, with a silhouette of a soldier and the words "Lest We Forget".

Work will begin on Wednesday, weather permitting. During installation, Princess Street, between Orange Street and Mill Street, will be temporarily closed, with minor traffic disruptions possible.

Leamington's Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at the Dieppe Park cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11, at 10:35 a.m.
