In 2017, Fathers led the community consultations for the Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Benefits Program.

Advance voting took place last weekend.

For the first time, Ward 2 residents were not bound by one polling place determined by residency. Voters could choose from seven polling places operating on Monday.

Once sworn in, Fathers will take the position left open by the resignation of Fabio Costante, who left to become CEO of the Windsor-Essex Community Housing Corporation.

He will complete Costante's term, which ends in November 2026.
