Suspect arrested in Windsor's fourth homicide of 2025

A 29-year-old man is facing a first-degree murder charge following an investigation that led police to a Windsor home.

At around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Windsor police stopped a 29-year-old man for stunt driving near Chatham Street East and Goyeau Avenue.

Officers then noticed dried blood on his face and clothing, prompting an investigation that led investigators to a home on Langlois Avenue and Giles Boulevard East.

A woman was found unresponsive inside. The 26-year-old woman was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead.

This is Windsor's fourth homicide of 2025, and police believed that this was an instance of intimate partner violence.

The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday afternoon and has since been identified by police as Daniel Nathaniel Assing.

The charges have not been proven in court.

No additional details have been released as the investigation is active.
