A postgraduate program at the University of Windsor is once again at the top of the standings.
The Master of Sport Management and Leaderships (MSML) program has been named the top program of its kind in Canada, according to the 2025 postgraduate rankings by SportsBusiness, a global consulting and analysis company.
Since the rankings were first published in 2012, U of W's MSML program has ranked first 11 times.
The program provides graduate students with the background and opportunities to serve as leaders in sports management, as well as gain an appreciation of the history and culture of sports.
U of W Kinesiology Department Chair Dr. Jess Dixon said the ranking is a continued testament to the MSML program's ability to attract the best students.
"It makes me proud to be a graduate of the program and to see that the students graduating now, almost 25 years later, are still having a really positive experience," said Dixon.
Dixon added that another component of the program's continued success is the faculty.
"We don’t hire anybody in the department without them being strong teachers as well as strong researchers," said Dixon.
The latest SportsBusiness rankings are based on surveying graduates and course leaders from 2022. U of W's program received scores of 96 per cent and 92 per cent on professional mentorship and diversity, equity, and inclusion, respectively.
The University's MSML program is offered in internship and thesis pathways. The internship includes a required 360-hour placement with a completion timeframe of 16 to 20 months.
The thesis path takes about 24 months to complete, and includes regular consultation with a thesis advisor and an emphasis on research.
