Police warn parents after needle found in Halloween candy

Windsor Police are investigating a report of a needle found inside a piece of Halloween candy.

It was inside a chocolate bar that was part of a Halloween-themed treat bag collected on Halloween night in the city's west end.

Police believe it may have been handed out in the area of Prince Road.

No one was hurt, but police remind parents and caregivers to carefully inspect all Halloween candy before allowing children to eat it.

They said things to watch for include tears, pinholes, or signs of rewrapping, and any discolouration or an unusual texture. Police recommend avoiding any treats that appear to be homemade or not in their original sealed packaging.

Should a parent find candy that appears suspicious, they're encouraged to call Windsor Police immediately.
