Windsor Fire and Rescue now have a preliminary cause and damage estimate for a house on Tuesday.
Fire crews and police arrived at the home on Marentette Avenue near Wyandotte Street East shortly after noon.
The flames had spread throughout the three-storey building, and firefighters worked to ventilate the smoke. The fire was declared out within an hour.
There were no reports of injuries, but 18 people are looking for a place to stay.
A fire investigator was on scene Tuesday afternoon. As of 5:30 p.m., they had narrowed the origin of the fire to a kitchen in one of the first-floor units.

The preliminary damage estimate is $200,000.
