NextStar begins mass production of lithium-ion batteries

NextStar Energy has officially started mass production of lithium-ion batteries at its manufacturing plant in Windsor.

The latest milestone at the facility on Banwell Road comes three years after construction on the 4.23 million-square-foot plant began.

The plant received its occupancy permit in September, marking the end of construction and the start of production.

So far, the company has hired 1,100 employees, 400 of whom were trained through Battery Boost, a specialized training program, preparing the workers for a career in battery manufacturing.

Battery cells produced at NextStar Energy are carefully manufactured, and the company said it has an unwavering commitment to quality, ensuring the highest standards of safety, consistency, and performance.

"Our team is well prepared for this moment, and we're working very closely with our partners to ensure that NextStar Energy is consistently delivering the highest quality product possible," said Chief Operating Officer Brett Hillock. "Windsor is at the forefront of innovative battery manufacturing."
