Police board approves 4.6% budget increase

The Windsor Police Service has set a budget of $117,235,973 for 2026.

That represents a 4.16 per cent increase over the 2025 budget.

The Windsor Police Service Board approved the budget as presented.

"We're going to continue to express our concern to our premier and the attorney general in terms of those costs but that is what it costs to keep our community safe," said Board Chair Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac.

Deputy Chief Karel DeGraaf indicated the majority of the budget is dictated by salaries, overtime costs, and other contractual obligations.

The budget still needs to be approved by Windsor City Council.
