Amherstburg looking for answers to frequent power outages

The Town of Amherstburg wants answers for frequent power outages throughout the municipality.

Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb presented a notice of motion at this week's council meeting requesting a meeting between councillors and Hydro One.

"I think it's time that council reaches out and officially asks Hydro One to come and provide us with some explanation why the power goes out on a beautiful day or recently in the Kingsbridge subdivision...[the power] flicked on and off a dozen times in three days," said Gibb. "I'm just looking for an explanation of why this is happening."

Gibb said he's not the only one looking for answers. He indicated he gets calls from residents and businesses on a regular basis.

"Everyone's homes are full of high-end electronics equipment, I know as a business owner when the power goes out it takes you 20 minutes to reboot your computers systems, your point of sales systems so it is costing us productivity," said Gibb.

In addition to answers, Gibb also wants to hear Hydro One's plans for future infrastructure investments.
