Firefighters got the call just before 6 a.m. on Friday about the blaze on Aylmer between Wyandotte Street East and Brant Street.
The home is vacant, and fire officials say no one was hurt.
Crews are conducting an overhaul with light smoke conditions.
While the firefighters work, the public is asked to stay away from the area.
