OPP arrest six suspected impaired drivers on the weekend

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy in the county over Black Friday weekend, with multiple arrests for alleged impaired driving.

The first two arrests occurred early Friday morning in Tecumseh, within an hour of each other.

At about 2:50 a.m., a single vehicle collision was reported on Arlington Boulevard. A 24-year-old Amherstburg woman was charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, and dangerous driving.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m., another single-vehicle collision was reported on County Road 22. A 24-year-old Kingsville man was also charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, and dangerous driving.

The other four incidents took place in Leamington.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, the OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Deer Run Road. A 19-year-old Leamington man was charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, and being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol level above zero.

Just before midnight on Saturday, there was another single-vehicle collision on County Road 33. A 40-year-old Leamington man is charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol content.

Before 1 a.m. on Sunday, OPP patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 77. A 34-year-old Windsor man is charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, driving without a licence, failure to surrender a motor vehicle permit, driving with an obstructed windshield, and failure to surrender insurance proof.

Finally, the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Seacliff Drive West just before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. A 19-year-old Windsor woman is charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol content.

The charges have not been proven in court.

All suspects had their licences suspended, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days. Each suspect will have an opportunity to respond to the charges later this month in a Windsor court.
