The latest crime statistics in Windsor and Amherstburg continue to tell an encouraging story.
The Windsor Police Service issued its monthly crime report for Novemberon Wednesday morning. The data showed that overall crime continued to fall in the two municipalities, building on recent encouraging trends.
Property crime dropped by double-digit percentages once again, with a 27.8 per cent decline compared to November 2024. There were 695 reports made to police.
Windsor police considers property crime as arson, break-and-enter, fraud, mischief, theft, and possession of stolen property.
The decline is also down in 2025 to date. Windsor police say so far this year, there were 9,772 reports taken, reflecting a drop of 10.5 per cent from the period between January and November 2024.
Crimes against people also went down in Windsor and Amherstburg in November.
Compared to November 2024, the rate of personal crime fell by 6.7 per cent, with officers taking 237 reports.
Year-to-date, personal crime is down jurisdictionally by 4.8 per cent when compared to 2024 to date, with 2,843 reports taken so far in 2025.
Offences that are classified as personal crime include homicide, abduction and forcible confinement, assault, sexual assault, robbery, and harassment.
Other Criminal Code violations, however, went up in November. These include child pornography, non-violent weapons offences, betting and gaming offences, and administration of justice violations.
These offences were up 35.9 per cent from last November, and up 12.1 per cent year to date.
There wasn't much change in the ward-by-ward crime breakdown. Ward 3, which includes the downtown core, remained the most dangerous one in the city in both personal and property crime.
Ward 6 held a slight edge over Ward 1, with the fewest personal crimes reported in November. Ward 1 still held the distinction of having the lowest property crime rate in Windsor.
