The new City Hall Square Ice Rink will celebrate its grand opening on December 13.
Mayor Drew Dilkens and Councillor Renaldo Agostino will kick off the festivities with a ribbon cutting at 11:20 p.m.
"“It’s fantastic to see the new City Hall Square Ice Rink come alive in our downtown. Since the new civic esplanade opened this past summer, it has become one of the city’s greatest assets of public space in the heart of the community. From milestone flag-raisings, exciting viewing parties, and the launch of the Live at the Square summer concert series… to social, recreational, and cultural activities, the space has been packed with unforgettable experiences since we cut the first ribbon," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. "Now, our new ice rink comes online, replacing the former rink at Charles Clark Square, and ensuring residents are treated to the space they helped imagine outside Windsor City Hall.
Following the ribbon cutting, the rink will open for skating. There will be a DJ on scene until the end of the grand opening events at 2 p.m.
Vendors will also be on site for food purchase.
While supplies last complimentary hot chocolate, popcorn, and City of Windsor toques will be available.
Free ice skate rentals are available through All Saints’ Anglican Church Skate Program.
Following the grand opening event, the rink will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (weather permitting).
