An off-duty Windsor officer has been charged with impaired driving and fleeing from the police.
On Saturday Morning, police found a car at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Tecumseh Road East where the man appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.
The officers tried to speak to the man, but he woke up and sped away immediately.
They did not pursue the car in the interest of public safety.
The car was located a short distance away, with the driver found asleep again.
Police arrested the constable, and he has been charged with impaired driving, operating a car with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood, and fleeing from police.
The arrest comes after Windsor Police conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program where no drivers were arrested for impaired driving.
The officer is currently suspended with pay.
