Tecumseh ratifies new contract with firefighters

Firefighters in Tecumseh have a new collective agreement.

The Town of Tecumseh ratified the agreement with the Tecumseh Firefighters' Association, which includes a 13 per cent wage increase over four years for firefighters and enhanced mental health benefits.

"Each and every day, members of Tecumseh Fire and Rescue Services demonstrate dedication to serve and protect our community," said Fire Chief Wade Bondy. "This agreement supports a commitment to ensure that our fire and rescue services strive to meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency for our residents, as well as prioritizing the health and well-being of our fire services team."

The President of the Tecumseh Firefighters' Association is pleased with the agreement.

"I am confident this agreement will continue to strengthen our commitment to the community and support the high level of service our residents expect and deserve," said Mike Ditty.

The Tecumseh Firefighters' Association represents 42 volunteer firefighters who provide emergency rescue services to the more than 24,000 residents in Tecumseh.
